I saw my first MST3K show only last year...no, I don't live in a cave, it's because I stopped subscribing to cable way back in 1987 and missed MST3K's entire run on TV.

WOW, what I have been missing! This show is a hoot and that little Tom Servo can be a scream at times. :D

The problem is that they are releasing them too slowly. Many of the producers and directors of the films they show want more money for the DVD releases because the show was a huge hit. Sandy Frank will never sign off on the Gamera films they ripped on because he hated the fact they were making fun of the films. There is a rumor that Toho wants to pull the license for Episode 212-Godzilla vs Megalon, which is my favorite.

The new set will include:
episode 419- THE REBEL SET (with short: JOHNNY AT THE FAIR)
episode 504- SECRET AGENT SUPER DRAGON
episode 612- THE STARFIGHTERS
episode 811- PARTS: THE CLONUS HORROR

personally I recommend The Starfighters, 90min of pure padding starring Congressman Bob Dornan

I loved MST3K. Especially the Joel era ones. I would have to say that my all-time favorite (although I haven't seen ALL of them) is Eegah. I had never heard of the movie before seeing the MST3K treatment. Now I love it (even the movie by itself--without the MST crew picking it apart). It's such a horrible flick, how can one not love (or hate) it?

It's funny (not funny "ha ha", but funny *****) and ironic that MST3K used many movies that were pretty much unknown to the masses and made them popular to some extent. Now the companies that own some of them want all kinds of money for the DVD releases of MST3K to cash in on their success (as Daimajin said above). I suppose if there's any way to squeeze a few bucks out of an old movie someone will be around to do it, but it just seems kind of sad and unfair. After all, if it weren't for MST3K they wouldn't be able to GIVE some of these flicks away (not including Godzilla, Gamera and other classics of course). Give them (and us fans) a break already!

The Starfighters and Eegah

Thanks for the recommendations, guys. I've only seen a handful of shows, so I downloaded the MST3K Guide. It's a PDF file that lists every single movie they riffed and there must be around 150 movies listed.

I also recommend The Satellite News for up to date info and history of MST3K.

My all-time MST3K is the classic "The Incredibly Strange Creatures that Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies". Ray Dennis Steckler is a genius  (a PA native, BTW)!
