I came across these the other day. I always loved the artwork.

I used to have a 70s woman's magazine (like BETTER HOMES AND GARDENS) that had a pull-out 76 KONG t-shirt iron-on in it. Found it several years after the fact in a pile of magazines at my grandmother's house. I always thought that was a strange marketing angle, to target suburban mothers rather than their kids.

Fantastic artwork

I collected the trading cards and they used this artwork for some of the cards. My favorite is Kong battleing the snake

I've got a bunch of those, several were handed down to me by an older cousin in the late 70s, and I managed to pick up several more at a flea market in the 80s.

I also have the "Making of" paperback that I found in mint condition at another flea market a few years ago.

Great raging artwork.

That really is some great artwork (and neat cards too). It seems like I might have had a few of those cards as a kid, but not many.

 Re: 1976 King Kong Art
I was thinking of starting a new thread for this somewhere else, but since the topic of the 1976 Kong came up this seems as good a place as any...

The wife and I didn't really have anything to watch tonight (Saturday). While I was putting our oldest daughter to bed the wife was flipping through channels (we don't have cable, so there aren't too many to choose from). When I got out to the living room she had channel 38 on. I saw Jeff Bridges in a movie that was starting at 8:00. After a couple minutes I realized it was the 1976 "King Kong"! I have it on DVD, but it just seemed so cool to see it on TV--and channel 38 no less--that I just had to watch it. Since 38 is an independent channel again they tend to show a lot of those short informercial-type commercials (like RTV and THIS show) that seem a bit like the old ads that used to run on Boston area channels like 38 and 56 back in the day. It just really felt a bit like a time warp back to the good old days, watching a movie like "King Kong" at 8:00 on channel 38. I just had to make some popcorn for the event!

Sounds like you had a nostalgically fun time, Col. THIS had the 1976 King Kong on last Saturday and like you, I watched it even though I also have the DVD.
I like to do the same thing from time to time with the CDF movies Skorch made a few years ago, even though I have most of those movies on DVD. If you remember, he included some classic commercials and the old WLVI 56 call sign that would briefly appear on the screen during the movie. He made quite a few and I saved them to my computer.

Yeah, those CDF recreations are simply awesome!

Strangely enough THIS had "King Kong" last night too. It was odd to tune into THIS after watching "King Kong", only to see it on again (about halfway through) on THIS. At first I was thinking that it was because channel 38 and channel 7 are affiliated with each other, until I remembered that it's WBZ channel 4 that's associated with 38 and not channel 7.
