Here's an episode from the 1980 Superfriends series called "Big Foot". It ends up being a familiar alien story, but the fact that the antagonist(s) is thought to be a bigfoot makes it right for this thread. I'm pretty sure I watched this version of the Superfriends show, but don't recall this episode.

Yeah, but I think the ones with Wendy, Marvin and Wonder Dog take the cake for corniest of all! (Of course, that's based mainly on the fact that the aforementioned Wendy, Marvin and Wonder Dog were in it.)

Has anyone seen this latest "hot toy for the holidays"? It's a remote control Big Foot. It was at Target a couple weeks ago when I was there. I remember seeing the "Spike the Dinosaur" toy displayed in stores last year and this is apparently the follow-up. I have to admit that this doesn't look very interesting to me (even though I'm a big Bigfoot fan). I don't like the way they make Big Foot into some "cute, cuddly" character (though I do understand that they ARE trying to sell toys after all, and a big, scary monster might not sell as well as if you went in this direction). It seems hard to believe that something like this would be of much interest to today's kids. I could see them playing with it for a while to see all the stuff it does and then getting bored and putting it in the back of the closet so they can play their video games and stuff like that. On the other hand, of course I AM glad to see Bigfoot still being in the public's conscience enough for Mattel to make the effort to put out something like this. Seems like a very expensive toy that people who already spend too much on their kids for stuff they won't appreciate will buy.

Here's a video of Big Foot from the 2010 New York Toy Fair:

I did see this at Target a month or two ago, in one of those end-cap displays where it was in a plastic bubble (much like John Travolta in the TV-Movie) with a remote so kids could try it out. I was surprised to see it, and also disappointed to see that it mostly resembled a Wii Donkey Kong.

Still, cool to see Bigfoot still making the occasional cultural ripple.

Yeah, it's not a great-looking toy, but it is great so see the big guy still making the rounds in this modern age! And the end-cap try-me-out display seems to indicate that someone thinks there will be a lot of interest in it (either that or they're simply trying to drum up some interest. The Spike the Dinosaurs I saw last year were in the same kind of displays.

 Re: BIG FOOT
Maybe not the Wii (I'm not a gaming guy, at least not post-2600), but there was a DONKEY KONGO (?) game not long ago where you used bongos with a Donkey Kong.....that's the one I was thinking of.

 Re: BIG FOOT
A few pages (and a couple years) back I mentioned the 1980 TV cartoon special "The Berenstain Bears Met Bigpaw". I had only recently discovered that one back then. At the time it was kind of hard to find (for me at least). I bought an old VHS of it at a library book sale that I still watch with my daughter. I couldn't find it on DVD back then either, but it seems to be available now. Most important of all, I couldn't find it on YouTube--which meant I couldn't share it here. Well, at this moment, two people have it up on YouTube if anyone wants to check it out. I found this a little whole back but wanted to wait until Thanksgiving season was upon us before posting it--as the show is Thanksgiving-related. Well, tomorrow is Turkey Day and I almost didn't get around to posting this at all... So, here it is. As I mentioned in the earlier post about the show, I love the song that Bigpaw sings when he makes his first appearance (early in Part 2). Check it out if you get a chance!

 Re: BIG FOOT
A friend of mine just sent me a link to this video through cryptomundo.com (via YouTube). It's not really anything groundbreaking--a supposed top ten countdown of Bigfoot videos. Number 2 is the Patterson footage. Numbers 3 through 10 are all things that I wouldn't consider all that interesting (although it's nice to see all the "best" footage of Bigfoot in one place). The best and worst part of the video is that it does NOT show what's at number one. Supposedly it's something that's even better than the Patterson footage, and we'll have to wait until it gets released as part of an upcoming documentary. I'd like to be optimistic (and I'll certainly check out the documentary when and if it comes out), but it certainly sounds like a bunch of self-promotion to work up interest in something that will prove to be nothing (or another stupid hoax like the Bigfoot body press conference from a couple years ago). Time will tell, but here's the top ten countdown if anyone wants to check it out...

Speaking of documentaries, I just saw this one advertised on Facebook (or all places!). It's called "Bigfoot's Reflection". It doesn't seem to be some sensational thing promising groundbreaking (and ultimately disappointing) new evidence or anything like that. Seems to be more of a profile of a bunch of Bigfoot researchers/investigators. Looks like it could be worth a watch. Check out the preview video on the home page.

 Re: BIG FOOT
I didn't know that Yahoo! had a regular thing called "Odd News", but apparently they do. I just saw the latest one and it deals with a recent Bigfoot sighting, and also Chupacabra! I'd actually seen a still image of the video in the Bigfoot sighting story, but didn't know when I'd get a chance to see the video itself--now I have! It's nothing to write home about, but worth checking out. Pretty obviously a fake (big surprise), and they didn't even put much effort into making it walk like something bigger than a human in a Bigfoot suit. Oh well. The Odd News is pretty funny.

 Re: BIG FOOT
The guy who shot that "Bigfoot" footage had the lamest excuse why he didn't shoot more than a few seconds footage: "I wanted to save the batteries in case something more interesting happened". More interesting than Bigfoot? Like an alien landing? Or a Leprachaun with a pot o' gold? Dude.

The guy hosting the segment looks familiar to me, like he was on Saturday Night Live or something.

you know its funny but i love saying Chupacabra. i could say that word all day long. :)

well given how boring that dude's footage is i'm sure something else more interesting would come along.
