"Who's Line is it Anyways?" --That's it! Yeah, I remember now!

Well yeah the footage he got was boring; it was just a blurry image of "Bigfoot" sashaying across a road. You know anyone else with a camera would trail it and get as much footage as possible--that is, anyone else who didn't already know it was a fake creature.

Wow, it's been a long time since we've seen activity in this thread. I don't know how many people were aware of this, but Bobcat Goldthwait has made a Bigfoot movie called "Willow Creek". The thought of Bobcat and Bigfoot together seems kind of odd to say the least. But this is actually a serious movie--as opposed to some wacky comedy. The movie isn't out yet, but it had its world premiere Monday at the Independent Film Festival Boston. I was lucky enough to be able to go to the show at the Somerville Theater. I actually thought it was a very good (and even scary) flick! I'm comparing it to the mass of crappy Bigfoot horror movies that have been made over the past decade or so. I just finished writing a review of the movie for anyone who'd care to read about it. Here it is:

Speaking of which, the latest episode of THE DANA GOULD HOUR podcast features Bob Goldthwait talking about the new film, with lots of Bigfoot and UFO discussion throughout the show:

Not work or kid-safe, language-wise.

 Re: BIG FOOT
Once again, it's been a while since we've seen any Bigfoot news on this thread. I still haven't heard anything about a release date (either on the big screen or, more likely, on home video of Bobcat Goldthwait's "Willow Creek". But that's not why I'm writing. A friend just made me aware of a story on Huffington Post about Bigfoot. There was a time when a Bigfoot story in mainstream media would make me very happy. Unfortunately, ever since that big hoax about a dead Bigfoot being found last decade, it seems like nearly every story ends up being a similar hoax. I don't know how much if it is copycat behavior, how much of it is people looking for attention seeing how much press these stories have been given or how much can be attributed to the Bigfoot "reality TV" shows that are out there. I haven't seen any of these shows ("Finding Bigfoot", "Ten Million Dollar Bigfoot Bounty"...), but as much as it seems like I should be excited to see how much attention the Bigfoot legend is garnering on TV, in the movies and in the news, I'm actually pretty disappointed that practically EVERY one of these news stories, TV shows and straight-to-video (or SyFy) movies are just plain old crap. The subject of Bigfoot has always been a joke to the vast majority of the population and these stories, shows and films are just making it all the more like a big joke. I miss the days when "In Search of..." would at least present the topic in a serious and documentary-like way, not just sensationalize the whole thing in an unrealistic way.

Anyway, I digress--sorry. The point of this is that there's supposedly a brand-new dead Bigfoot story out there. This seems to be a big topic on the web lately. I can't escape the term "Dead Bigfoot" on YouTube and certain blogs that I follow. It's the "latest thing" in Bigfoot "research" and everyone seems to have or know about a dead Bigfoot. Can't say I've SEEN any evidence---beyond cheap suits of course. But that hasn't stopped the stories. This one involves a dude (who was involved in one of the big hoaxes in the past) who claims to have shot a Bigfoot a couple years back. He has now released photos and is supposedly going to be releasing DNA evidence and autopsy results soon. It's amazing how people just keep going back to this attention-grabbing well--and how the media keeps obliging them with the attention they want. Oh well, here's the story if you want to see it:

 Re: BIG FOOT
Interestingly enough, I was just watching a fun 70s "speculation" (as TV GUIDE used to list IN SEARCH OF) documentary called
THE FORCE BEYOND last week, and it featured a segment on Bigfoot. Twas nice to see some of the intelligent, non-tabloidy
type coverage from back then, which didn't seem as much like hucksters looking for suckers as it did genuine researchers
trying to unravel a mystery.

That sounds very cool Mark. It's true about the "non-tabloidy type coverage" you mentioned. I kind of feel like the only reason I liked and "believed" all that 1970s paranormal documentary stuff was because I was a "dumb kid" who was young and didn't know any better. But looking at that stuff now, a lot of it really does seem pretty earnest and serious--whether it was based on serious hard science or not.

 Re: BIG FOOT
You make some really good points, Col. Manning. The documentary style lent an authenticity that us kids would eat right up with our imaginations. The possibility of Bigfoot and UFOs being real was something of great interest to me too. Unfortunately, becoming an adult also means an added layer of cynicism and jadedness that takes away from these type of programs.
