Captain America sequel: The Winter Soldier (2014)
The Falcon (Cap's modern-day side kick) is rumored to appear.

i really loved the first one.

hope the second one will be good. it will be tough because so much of what i liked about the first one was the futuristic version of ww2.

If the Falcon is in the sequel, it probably will take place in modern times. I wonder if they will explore Captain America's feeling of being out of touch with his modern surroundings. They really didn't get into that with the Avengers movie and only touched upon it at the very end of his first movie.

beastball

do you have the avengers blu ray?
not sure if its on the dvd or not but on the blu ray there are some great deleted scenes showing cap trying to adjust to modern life.

they were really well done scenes.

a lot of times deleted scenes were pretty useless but these really added to cap's personality. i can understand why they were cut though as the flick is pretty long as is.

Naw, I've yet to get a Bluray player or an HD TV. I'm really getting behind the times technology-wise. My desktop PC is probably considered obsolete being Windows XP and with only a DVD burner. I mainly use a laptop nowadays. Do you suppose those Bluray deleted scenes can be found on youtube?

How was it, astroal?

You know, a funny thing happened to me over the course of the past year or so: I think I maxed out in my interest in super-hero movies-- which is an astonishing thing for me to say. I love comic books to this day and seeing the super heroes portrayed on the big screen, finally with the kinds of special effects that makes them real, has been a treat I can't begin to describe. However, there have been so many now in such a short period of time I almost feel overwhelmed and they start to blur together. I am feeling like I've already seen what I need to and all that is left is rehash. I have already been amazed and I now the amazement has passed.

Re: Captain America sequel: The Winter Soldier (2014)
saw it last night

really liked it a lot!

it plays like a great spy movie crossed with a super hero flick.

there's a large amount of action scenes broken up with a lot of spy stuff.

it also delves more into cap's past.

when chris evans was first cast as cap i thought that it would be horrible. it's nice to be wrong. he was just as good in this one as the first.

there's a nice pulp fiction reference too.

sorry you're burnt on them beast ball. i really liked this one a lot.

Eh, perhaps if I take a break from them for a few years maybe I'll start to enjoy them more. They'll always be available to watch whenever I want whether I buy, rent or download. I'm sure I'll go back to see what I missed, eventually. They're already starting to pile up:

2 Spider-Man movies (the reboots)
Batman Dark Knight Rises
Superman Man of Steel
Iron-Man 3
Thor 2
Captain America 2 Winter Soldier
Wolverine 2

The sole exception might be the next X-Men movie since they're supposed to feature the Sentinels, which I have been dying to see in a movie since the first X-Men back in 2000.

Re: Captain America sequel: The Winter Soldier (2014)
For me WOLVERINE 2 is the only must-see on that list, with IRON MAN 3 being a slightly distant second.

Didn't like the new BATMAN movies, find the THOR movies kinda uninteresting, thought MAN OF STEEL was a dreary and badly-shot mess, and the new
SPIDER-MAN was unnecessary and mopey.

I loved the first CAPTAIN AMERICA and kinda hated the new one. The action was 99% in the "camera too close/camera too shaky/edited too fast" mode, which made
me tune out as soon as an action scene engaged, as I barely could comprehend what was going on. Cap's in an elevator full of bad guys, you know a fight is about to
break out, SHAKY-SHAKY-SHAKY-BLUR, then Caps the only one left standing. I see the setup and the result, but can't enjoy whatever comes between the two. You can
see flashes of movement that show you that there was likely some good fight choreography done in the film, but so rarely get a shot wide and stable enough to enjoy it.

The plot was somewhat interesting, but kept reminding me of other movies. I thought the Winter Soldier looked like Criss Angel, which isn't a good thing, and the flying
sidekick's outfit just looked silly. I'm not sure mechanical wings are necessarily the most effective way for someone to be able to fly in battle.

Anyway, I was really disappointed in this one, which bummed me out, as I liked the first installment so much. There are the requisite post-credits gags that link the film to
the next AVENGERS, which excited the "no internal monologue" comic book fan behind me in the theater, but didn't mean much to me.

Despite all the crabbing above, I DO like comic book movies, I just wish they were a little better most of the time.
