 Cool News!
Hey all and a belated Happy New Year!
I know it's been slow around here lately but I still check in a couple of times a week.
Haven't had much to post about but thought I'd share this good news with my fellow CDF enthusiasts:

Holy Long-Awaited Releases Batman, that IS cool news! I bought the series on a bootleg DVD set (taken from cable TV airings of the show) a few years ago. Can't wait to see the packaging for the set. I hope there will be some nice extras (commentaries from Adam West and Burt Ward?).

Wow. I'd love to see this as a Blu-ray set. Either way , it's about time!

I haven't really watched the show since I was in high school, so it'll be great to reacquaint myself with the joy.

 Re: Cool News!
I almost feel like this release is too late for me because I have been watching Batman every Saturday night on MeTV for the last few years...and like the Colonel I too have a bootleg set. Had they gotten their money differences settled say 5-6 years ago and released it then, I'd be overjoyed to get this.

Still, they will be all unedited and pristine copies, no? Any word if they'll clean up the masters for this? That may sway me

 Re: Cool News!
And another thing:

If they decide to go "widescreen" and cut the top and bottom off the picture, they can count me out. There are rumblings that an HD Blu-ray release of Lost in Space, in time for the 50th Anniversary in 2015, may do just this. I am not pleased.

In order to see the best resolution, I recommend going to youtube and adjusting resolution setting to its highest quality (and full screen!)

 Re: Cool News!
Yeah, that practice is bogus. Just when we thought we'd thrown off the shackles of Pan-and-Scanning of films to fit 4:3 TVs, we now have to deal with zooming in on 4:3 images on widescreen TVs.

HDTVs have a zoom function. Let the viewer decide for themselves if they want to butcher the original image!

 Re: Cool News!
The thing that kills me regarding that Lost in Space HD test is if you'll notice when they switch to widescreen, there actually is extra information there on the sides that is not seen in the standard 4:3 TV ratio. If they would just keep the top and bottom of the picture and add the new unseen stuff on the sides, you would have a picture that would almost fit a widescreen TV anyway. You wouldn't lose ANYTHING and actually GAIN more picture that was NEVER seen before! On my standard TV this would look slightly letterboxed, but I wouldn't lose anything. And on a widescreen TV, it would only be slightly pillar-boxed--but again, you wouldn't lose anything.

WHY can't they just do this?!?

Thanks Col!

If this set get's restored the same way the Original Star Trek set was and released on Blu Ray sans new special effects and music I'll be all over it.

 Re: Cool News!
So I finally actually watched that LOST IN SPACE demo, and noticed that in the "4:3 vs 16:9" comparisons, both versions were restored, so it's possible that the Blu-ray set
will either still be 4:3, or offer you a choice. I'm wondering if the 16:9 version was done for cable broadcasts? Just hoping that Fox does the right thing and gives fans the
episodes as they were originally broadcast.
