Drive-In Super Monster-Rama in PA - Sept 11-13, 2009

Hey gang,

I know I've mentioned this event in the past, and just wanted to help get the word out about this year's show. This is the third annual Drive-In Super Monster-Rama,
held at the Riverside Drive-In in Vandergrift, PA , and organized by George Reis of http://www.dvddrive-in.com . I've made the (for me) 10-hour drive to the
first two shows, and it was worth every minute of the trip. The film prints for the most part look great, tons of vintage trailers, snack bar ads, shorts and cartoons
between the films, and a great gathering of monster-loving folks. For anyone who's been to one of our Spooktacular events , this has a simialr feel, only outdoors
and without the live antics. One of the many things I love about this event is the mini-convention feel to it -- between films eveyone gets out of their cars and
socializes/discusses the films with the folks next to them, and there's a great sense of community on the lot those two nights.

$10 per night for adults, children under 12 free. Hard to beat a deal like that.

I'll be there, along with the alter egos of Scarewolf and Santoro the Honduran Grappler from SFS. Anyone else planning on attending?

Though these aren't my favorite movies, I would go if I had friends into this stuff or someone here wanted a ride or someone to pay the gas. But 10 hours each way in a car alone, not my cup of tea.

That is so cool you'll be in the UK! I've always wanted to visit there especially London...will this be your first time over there?

first time to really visit. i've had to hang around heathrow airport twice before. going to be staying in london mostly. hope to go to paris for a day trip via the chunnel. should be fun. if i spot anything cdf related i will post it here for sure.

I'll be in Pittsburgh for the Horror Realm convention on Sept 18th and World Zombie Day on Oct 11th. I'd also like to make it to the Drive-In but I might be pushing it as it is only a week before the other event. I need my own private jet!!

If anyone from here does wind up going to Monster-Rama, I know a good cheap motel about a half-hour away that we always stay at. Very friendly folks and there are usually several vacancies that weekend.

Hiya Gang

As the date gets closer, I'd be very interested in knowing if anyone here at CDF is certain to make the venture to Monster-Rama. It's on a bad weekend for me work-wise, but I'd do what I could to make the trip. It's not far for me, probably less than 3 hours.

Keep me informed.

Welcome aboard George!

I was going to post the update about the vendor/guests here, but you beat me to it.

I've only seen VAMPIRE CIRCUS once, long ago when it aired on a weekend afternoon on WPIX out of NYC.

Looking VERY forward to seeing it on the Drive-In screen where it belongs.

Hey gang ... a little FYI about "Tales of the Starlight Drive-In":

Mike is a friend and co-worker, and when I told him about this event, he simply said "I'm there". Stay tuned, there will be some news about this graphic novel in the next week or so.

It's a great anthology of intertwined stories, and I think people attending the Monster Rama will appreciate it even more.

If all goes well, I plan to attend.

Uncle Poe,

Thanks for alerting Mike to this event, and I'm so glad he'll be part of it. I am looking forward to meeting him and buying a copy of the book, which looks awesome. I hope you make it too! You will be among friends - Mark and his pal Rick always make it. If you do come, I can promise you at least one "Poe" film for next year's Monster-Rama line-up!

Hey George, bless you for doing this, I'm going to try like hell to make it.
I have a question though, how do I convince the local Drive In to run something similar?
