 Re: ENOUGH WITH THE SNOW!!
Wow, you know, it's pretty amazing that this thread was started TWO winters ago. As bad as 2010-11 was, 2011-12 was a dream come true for show-haters like myself. While it took until late December, like Beastball said, here we go again! As I've said before, I realize that I'm living in New England and snow is definitely a part of that. It doesn't mean I have to enjoy it. Always been a bit jealous of skiers and other winter activity fans. Things have changed quite a bit for me since last year though. Suddenly I'm living in an apartment building--which means I no longer have to worry about shoveling the stuff anymore! I can also walk to most of the places I need to get to, which means a lot less driving-in-the-snow headaches. That makes it a bit easier to take when the white stuff starts flying. We're also a lot closer to Boston now. All these years of living in central MA I've always been upset to see the snowfall amounts for Worcester vs. Boston because Boston almost always seemed to get so much less.

Last night we got our first real snowfall of the season. Up until this year that would have meant getting all upset. Instead, in this case we bundled up the kids and WALKED to a nearby chinese restaurant for dinner. I got a scorpion bowl. then we stopped at the little park near our house to make a snowman and have a little snowball fight! I never would have done that stuff back home.

Ahh the magical powers of a scorpion bowl! We only got a few inches of snow here, but it did ruin our plans to go to King's Bowling in Boston with a bunch of friends. We stayed home and watched Ted (unrated) and really enjoyed that movie.

 Re: ENOUGH WITH THE SNOW!!
I did two shifts with the snow blower--one last night between 11pm and 1am, and today from about 1pm to 3:30pm. With the amount of snow they were predicting, I knew it would be easier to remove a foot of snow twice than to try to remove two feet+ all at once. It was tough going last night trying to snowblow during the height of the blizzard; I could barely see--not to mention the creepy factor when flashes of lightning would light up the night sky. It just seems wrong to see lightning and snow at the same time.
I'll be going out again tomorrow morning to clean up the mess at the end of the driveway that the plows left for me. They didn't show up until around 5pm.
