 Frankenweenie (2012)
Saw this yesterday and thought it was a fun October treat for 60s/70s Monster Kids and fans of that era of monster movie. Funny, creepy, and with more than a few nods that only folks like us will get. I don't want to give away any of the surprises which made me giggle with glee, but I will say that one of the theater workers who I talked to afterward said they'd already had 7 kids leave the film because it was too scary for them. Nice.

That's great to hear Mark. I have to admit that I wasn't all that into the idea of the new "Frankenweenie". A Tim Burton stop-motion animation film that re-visits one of his first efforts seems like it should have been a draw, but I haven't been all that impressed with some of Burton's stuff lately (going back at least to his "Planet of the Apes"), and I was kind of getting a bit of a feeling of deja-vu with all the recent animated kids' horror flicks ("Paranorman", "Hotel Transylvania"...). I just wasn't really planning on seeing "Frankenweenie". But now I may have to reconsider!

I didn't like PARANORMAN, but did think (requisite rectal references aside) that HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA was a lot of fun. Like an updated MAD MONSTER PARTY. Nice to see a few Halloweeny films around Halloweentime this year, other than the latest hack SAW or PARANORMAL ATROCITY junk.

i want to see this. i did like the original a lot but seems like this would be a great one to see.

got to make it to the theater before it vanishes.

would be nice to see a new old school halloween flick on the big screen this season
