I am very excited about this! I have front row tickets to see my favorite band of all time (Depeche Mode), and the concert is next week!!! 8) I have been waiting for this concert for months, and it is almost here! It is at what used to be known as Great Woods, and I haven't been there since it was called Great Woods.

I CANNOT WAIT!!! :D

Thanks! :)

We're meeting up with a large group of fans for lunch before the show, then staying over after the concert. It is going to be a blast!!!

Congratulations south shore girl. Souinds like you're in for a good time. I'll keep my fingers crossed for nice weather for you. Are you sitting under the roof, or do you have field seating (or whatever they call the outoor portion of the arena)? Enjoy!

While the place is still there, I do miss the name "Great Woods". I had just gotten used to calling it the Tweter Center when Tweeter went out of business and they changed the name once again to the Comcast Center.

I've seen some good concerts there over the years (most of which were of groups or performers who were around in the 60s), including: Yes (a couple times), Robert Plant, and Ringo Starr's All-Starr Band. The last time I was there was September 2006 for Roger Waters.

It was! It's the only time I've seen him--though my friend (who I went with) has seen both him and the David Gilmour version of Floyd a couple of times. It was VERRY cool to see "The Dark Side of the Moon" performed in its entirety!

That Roger Waters concert must have been cool! I saw Robert Plant at The Boston Garden years ago, with Joan Jett as the opening act!

Way back at Great Woods in the 80's, I saw Guns & Roses/Aerosmith, Def Leppard, George Thorogood, The Cult/Billy Idol, and Cinderella there! So long ago!

Thanks for keeping your fingers crossed for good weather! With all this rain, it would be nice for a change!

We are sitting front row center, right in front of the stage under the roof for the Depeche Mode concert. I CAN'T WAIT!!! http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2009/04/24/depeche-mode-shut-down-hollywood-blvd-for-kimmel/

A too saw Guns & Roses at Great Woods back in 1988. They were opening for C, S, & N. I don't recall if Neil Young was there as well, but probably not. There were a lot of hippies there...that was kind of cool to see. I felt like I time warped back to 1969 :P

Yeah, I guess G&R were still new and not yet well established in the Summer of '88. Wasn't their first album Appetite for Destruction only just released in the Fall / Winter of '87?

It's sometimes funny to see who certain bands opened for when they were new and not so famous yet. At the time I'm sure an up-and-coming band like GnR probably seemed like a good choice to open for CSN (and possibly Y). I'll bet that by the end of the tour everyone involved probably didn't feel like it was such a good fit. Then again, it also probably brought in a lot of fans. CSN fans would go to see them, and the new GnR fans would go to see them. Kind of like a twin headliner bill, with two vastly different bands!

south shore girl, I believe I saw Robert Plant during the same tour you did. I saw Joan Jett open for him too--but at the Worcester Centrum (now known as the DCU Center). I also saw Alannah Myles (at Great Woods) and a relatively unknown Black Crowes open for him at the Centrum over the years. My very first concert was Robert Plant at the Centrum in July 1985 (about a week or so after Live Aid).

Aaahhh, yes! I thought Joan Jett was excellent! (We liked her better than Robert Plant!) When I saw G&R they were opening for Aerosmith. I also saw Aerosmith at Foxboro Stadium during the summer of 1986 with Ygnvie Malmsteen and 2 or 3 other groups. (I forgot who they were!)

Oh, the concerts I've seen! I went to Iron Maiden and The Beastie Boys both in the same week, at the same place. (Providence Civic Center)

My first concert was ACDC with Queensryche opening for them, I've seen ACDC 6 times.

The worst concert I ever saw was Poison. Tesla opened for them, and they were good, but after 2 or 3 Poison songs we left the concert.

Has anyone ever seen "Heavy Metal Parking Lot"? It is a classic documentary! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5S45ri1a00 I love it so much!!! Judas Priest was the one band I didn't get to see in concert in the 80's that I wished I could have seen!

You may still have your chance. I believe Priest is touring this summer!

I would've wanted to see them in the 80's when I was a teenager, but not now...not now. :)

I hear ya. Still, there could be some nostalgia value iin it for some people.

By the way, to get back to the subject, has the Depeche Mode concert happened yet? If not it must be very soon. I've NEVER been in the front row for any concert. Can't wait to hear all about it.
