Oh yeah, kids that don't even bother to dress up. Ugh. If you're too old to want to dress up for Halloween or think it's "uncool" then you're tooo old to be trick-or-treating. At least make the effort. I can understand being a tad on the old side and feeling like you still want the opportunity to go out and get a bunch of fre candy. But the costume is a part of the ritual (about the biggest part in fact). And yes, I'd still give them treats simply to avoid any teenage "tricks". Love Curb Your Enthusiasm. You definitely have to check out the Seinfeld reunion al!

In my neighborhood growing up there were at least a couple of houses that gave out sandwich baggies filled with popcorn, sometimes a little burnt even. That and the occasional apples were the worst.

Anyone remember getting "mystery candy" that you didn't know what it was, until you popped it in your mouth? Usually it was either a hard candy or a chewy chocolate/caramel type candy, but the wrapper was lacking any discription or name. Also, I remember in my younger trick-or treating days, there were many less popular candies I had never heard of before, and felt unsure I would like when trying them for the first time.

I remember a candy like that and it had a root beer flavor but when you first put it in your mouth it kind of gave your tongue a shock. My brother told me I had just been poisoned.

One candy bar that I really liked was called Milkshake. It had a Three Musketeer consistency but with more flavor. I think the last time I had one was 30 years ago.

Check out this website. http://www.oldtimecandy.com/discontinued.htm

Anyone ever been to Yummies in Kittery Maine?

I stumbled upon that website when looking if Marathon candybars are still made (they are, but they're called Curly Wurly now). Great website!

Going through their candylist is like a trip back in time

Too bad the Milkshake candybar is discontinued, but here is a picture of the wrapper:
