Okay, I'm hoping someone can help me identify this barely remembered film that creeped me out and gave me nightmares back when I was five or six. It played on Creature Double Feature at least once. It was Asian (I think Japanese, but I'm not sure) and it is set in some futuristic society and it involved a teenage boy who gets his head shaved by some Big Brother type authority as punishment or re-education or something. Or something like that. I can't really remember, but I'd be grateful if someone could point to a title. I'd love to check it out again and see how it plays 30 years later.

"Gamera vs Guiron," AKA "Attack of the Monsters," featured two boys who traveled to a ruined alien planet. One boy was of Asian descent, the other of Caucasian descent. Two space women planned to eat the boys' brains. They shaved the head of the Asian boy, probed his mind, and were ready to "gobble his brains" (their words) when Gamera arrived, killed their guard dog monster (two different ways!) and brought the boys home safely.
Does that sound like the movie you mean?

Excellent suggestion Gamera! For the life of me I couldn't htink of anything that matched the description above and was wondering if this would fcontinue to be a mystery. Never even thought about the head-shaving scene from "Attack of the Monsters". This certainly fits all the points above. The futuristic society feel probably came from the aliens' spaceship and planet. Does this sound like your movie jbrooks? It was one of the most aired Creature Double Feature movies. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0064360/

Thank you. Thank you. That is probably it. I'm going to check it out to be sure. It's funny how memory works. I recall some of the images very strongly, and the overall film barely at all.

I picked this up on DVD a few years ago and was a little shocked to see the film heading toward the direction of a kid's brains being eaten. Made me giggle in a "wow, this really shouldn't be happening in a kiddie film, but it looks like it's going to, and I applaud their guts for going this far" way.

Great point Mark. I suppose that as kids it really didn't matter what the aliens' plans were. After all, no matter how gruesome those plans migh tbe, we just knew that Gamera was going to save the kids long before the movie had a chance to venture into R-rated territory! I guess my main thought while watching this was always about how cool it would be to be in a spaceship with two hot alien chicks who give you doughnuts and milk! The very idea of that cancelled out the horror of potentially having my brains eaten by said aliens!

In addition to the "brain eating" intentions of the two aliens, I thought showing Gaos' beheading and being chopped up into pieces as a bit shocking too, for a kiddie film.

i read somewhere on line that they upped the gruesome factor in the gamera flicks to compete with godzilla. Quote: I guess my main thought while watching this was always about how cool it would be to be in a spaceship with two hot alien chicks who give you doughnuts and milk the doughnuts and milk weren't on my mind last time i thought about this but seriously i remember being a little creeped by the brain eating thing when i was a kid and it was what made me like this one i think. if you look at most children's fables the best ones are pretty dark in someways.

Space babes are hot, except when they are trying to eat your brain

I have fond memories of this movie on CDF, the scene with the milk and donuts always made me hungry.

I remember this one. Like all of the Gamera movies, with the possible exception of the original film, it made me laugh my socks off. It was cool how they could make a giant monster movie, include a couple of very nice looking female aliens trying to eat some kids brain, and still make you laugh. The only one that made me laugh more was "Destroy all Planets". Those eyes with their glowing eyes was hilarious. The best thing about the Gamera flicks for me is the way they can spend what was a semi decent budget back then, create some incredibly silly plot, write a semi decent script, and still make it seem slightly plausible. And all of them were funny. My family and I have a "Tacky Cheesy Movie Night" every couple of weeks. We all put some nales in a bow and choose 3 or 4 to watch on the big screen. The Gamera DVDs are getting a lot of use.
