No need Mark, I took a photo of it! I think it came out rather blurry, but I'll hunt it down and post it here. Those shirts look really cool Al. Nice that you don't have to make your own now. I'd totally get one of those if I had been a Monkey Division kid. It still amazes me to think that I'd never even HEARD of that line of toys until tis thread was started! They might have been slightly before my time, but it would have only been by a few years--and I have an older brother. It would seem like I'd have at least been aware that they had existed. I'd have loved to get a few of those toys as hand-me-downs from my brother or maybe at a yard sale or something.

It seems like the big things (for boys at least) from when we were kids were monster and sci-fi stuff (covered by all the CDF movies, Star Trek, Star Wars, Shogun Warriors, Force Five...), cowboys and indians (covered by all the westerns on the big screen and all the TV shows too) and playing army and war (toy guns, G.I. Joe and the Monkey Division toys, all the WWII movies from the 60s, Hogan's Heroes, Combat...). I guess there were also cars too (Matchbox and Hot Wheels cars, model kits...). The only thing I never really got into was the westerns.

I liked (and still do) some westerns, like "Tombstone" and a lot of the Clint Eastwood stuff, but the whole western thing just never clicked with me as a kid for whatever reason. I guess growing up in the 70s wasn't as much of a fertile time for westerns as it would have been a couple decades earlier with all those great old western TV shows and the movies and serials on the big screen. I occasionally felt like I was missing out on something and would try to force myself to watch and enjoy westerns (mainly movies on WLVI) on TV. It just never caught on. Oh well...

Well here's the photo I promised. The antique shop had a pair of Monkey Guns that were bundled together with elastics. I guess it was a package deal. You can see that the one in the front is missing the pistol grips, but otherwise they appear to be pretty complete. Nothing "Minty Fresh" in super-valuable condition or anything, but something a person could get for their own kids to play with today! I'll bet it would be pretty nostalgic for someone who played with Monkey Division toys back in the 60s to see their own kids/grandkids playing with these guns today!

I don't recall what these were going for. I know I checked out the price back in September, but it didn't stay with me. Considering the condition and the fact that this particular dealer in this group shop had a lot of pretty cool pop culture toys that many of us would remember for pretty reasonable prices, they were probably on the cheap side. Same dealer also had a C-3PO Halloween costume in it's (pretty beaten up) original box for $4.95, a Battlestar Galactica Colorforms set and a Mork and Mindy board game amongst its offerings. The funny thing is that if it weren't for this thread I wouldn't have had any idea what Monkey Division Monkey Guns were in the first place. Seems very appropriate to post this photo here, since this thread is the reason I took it in the first place!
