Around 1974, having lived in rhode island i used to watch channel 56's creature double feature every satruday. About this time I remember fragments of a japanese(possibly toho) involving japanses actors as spys and a flying saucer, and when the saucer was attacked the human looking aliens sent out male androids wearing what looked like a helmet sort of like from a space suit and when about to attack the visor covering their eyes slid up and beams shot of of it to disintegrate the target(like gort from the day the earth stood still. what made this scene stand out was there was a woman singing plaintively(sadly) while this went on as a sound effect.
Has anyone seen a movie on creature d. feature like this?

Hi lantern1014 and welcome to the forum! Could the movie you're looking for possibly be The Mysterians? I've never got to see it, but looking it up, it sounds like many of the elements you describe are in it including the helmets, flying saucers, laser beams, and..."some operatic influences (think of the effectiveness of Wagner's The Ride of the Valkyries and its usage in Francis For Coppola's Apocalypse Now during the helicopter scene)". It's not the Mysterians. The Mysterians didn't shoot beams from their helmets. I'm not sure what this one is and I thought I saw all of the 60s-70s Japanese flicks. As a side Note. Moguira made a few appearances (significantly updated) in some of the more modern Gojira flicks from Toho. If anyone DOES figure this one out though, I'd love to find out too. It sounds like a cool little movie.
