Thanks for posting those, skorch; I really enjoyed seeing those again! I used to cut all those CDF pics out of the TV Guide and collect them. It was really nice to see the movie section from the 1976 Journal...especially the one for the Lonsdale Drive-In. I lived 5 minutes away from there as a kid (heck, I don't live too far away from it now :P ) Saw many movies there, the last was in 1985 with a GF--I'm not sure what the movie was (Flashdance? ) The whole drive-in area is now a park with a bicycle path. The nice thing is that they left the original drive-in sign up, refurbished it and has a permanent "now showing" of Lonsdale Nature Walk

...look at those ticket prices! And all the X-rated movies back then!

Wow I didn't know that, I'll have to go and take a picture.
Not sure if growing up we went there, I know we went to the Seekonk Twin (Food of the Gods, Blues Brothers stand out) and Westport Drive In (The Shining) often. It was always fun because my siblings and I would pile sleeping bags, pillows and toys in the back, go to McDonalds and then off to the Drive In!
Anyone invent a time machine yet?

If you want to see what the Lonsdale Drive-In looks like now, I'd be happy to take some pics and post them here, skorch.
I remember seeing a Popeye and Star Trek II double feature at the Seekonk Twin!
About the only drive-in left in RI is the Rustic. Back when I was a wee lad, the Rustic had a playground in front of the screen and all us kids would play there in our jammies until the cartoons came on (remember when they showed cartoons before the movie?). Then there would be a mad dash back to the cars so we wouldn't miss anything!
By the mid 70's, the Rustic switched to showing only X movies (as you can see in the Journal ad).
I'm not sure when they switched back to showing regular movies.
