 Paul Lynde Halloween Special
I had a chance over the weekend to watch this on DVD and it was definitely a throw back to the 70's disco era. I'm thinking of running this show on an old TV as kids and their parents approach the house on Halloween. That'll be enough to scare them.

I've always liked the idea of having a vintage TV to run old TV shows on, to add in the way-back effect.

I watched the Paul Lynde special via Netflix a few years ago, and while I'm a big fan of 70s TV and variety shows, I thought the writing was pretty weak on this one. Still a fun slice of the times, though.

Can a DVD player even be hooked to a vintage TV?

I've only seen the segment where KISS played thanks to youtube. Was a huge fan back then, and missed seeing this show (and KISS) when it originally aired.

 Re: Paul Lynde Halloween Special
I saw this mess almost exactly a year ago when a couple friends and I got together. We only manage to have one of our "Guys Night Out" nights a couple times a year at best and the main point of them (beyond eating, drinking, hanging out and talking about everything) is to watch some great old monster/horror/sci-fi movie that we either all fondly remember from our youths, or that we all want to see. Anyway, I planned on showing them a couple scenes from the Paul Lynde Halloween Special, just to show them how strange and odd it was...but we ended up watching the whole thing.

An old update but I did copy the DVD to VHS and run it on an old console TV. I setup a chair with a plastic skeleton drinking a martini (dry ice and water) facing the TV. The tube was on its last leg and had a yellowish green tint around the edges which enhanced the display. The parents enjoyed it more than the kids though. Sadly the TV finally gave up the ghost and was last seen on the back of a DPW truck.
