For anyone who's interested, I'll be guest co-hosting the CINEMANIACS movie review show on our local access TV station tonight from 9-10PM, and again next Monday at the same time. Spent the weekend watching 4 flicks in the theater and the same number on DVD, and hopefully I'll have something witty and intelligent to say about them tonight.

Cheshire TV can be watched live online here:

If anyone's curious about seeing SATURDAY FRIGHT SPECIAL and hasn't yet, it can also be viewed this way, Saturday nights at 10PM and Sundays at Midnight.

Sounds cool Mark. Boy, four theatrical movies AND four more on DVD? I'd be hard pressed to keep them all seperate in my memory, much less say something witty and intelligent about each. Hope they were good ones!

Last weekend I saw LAND OF THE LOST, THE TAKING OF PELHAM 1-2-3, THE HANGOVER, and IMAGINE THAT in the theater. Of those, HANGOVER was a lot of fun and PELHAM was a decent matinee. LAND was bad and IMAGINE was boring.

On video, it was the FRIDAY THE 13TH remake, MEDEA GOES TO JAIL, FIRED UP, and THE INTERNATIONAL. I liked FIRED UP and the international a lot, not so much on the other two.

This weekend's slate looks lighter in the theatrical category and maybe heavier on video, with several titles in each category I'm dreading having to sit through.

Oh well, I guess somebody's gotta do it, right? The idea of reviewing movies as a profession sounds like the ultimate job in theory. In practice imagine all the crappy movies you'd otherwise never want to see that you'd have to sit through. Not only that, but then you'd have to write a review for each of them (so you couldn't just get up and leave a crappy movie in the middle).

That sounds very interesting...except for the boring movies!

I did the show again last night, and managed to work in mentions of both SHOCK WAVES and PLANET OF THE APES...

It certainly is a fun gig, though you have to be prepared to give up a weekend in order to watch 6 or more films in two days. The downside is having to sit through things like YEAR ONE.....ugh.
