Here is a cool picture I found on the 'Net a few years ago. Attachment: File comment: Evoultion of Godzilla

As we all know, Godzilla's appearance has changed throughout the years and sometimes from one movie to the next. His evolution starts in the upper right and ends in the lower left, forming a backwards "Z". I'm sure most of you can name--in order, which movie each particular Godzilla appeared in. Bonus points if you can name the year as well. Also, which one is your favorite? Mine is his very first appearance. Although, if this picture included his "phantom eyes" incarnation from GMA, I'd have a hard time not choosing that one

The only Godzilla suit I can't stand is the early to mid 70's incarnation--the ones used in Godzilla Vs. Megalon and Godzilla Vs. Mechagodzilla, etc. I'll never forget my introduction to this particular suit....my first big screen Godzilla movie at the drive-in and it was Godzilla Vs. Megalon. I could feel my jaw drop in horror at what they did to him. He had large puppy-dog eyes & a pushed-up nose and it made him look "playful" or (dare I say it)...cute. I think the suit used in Godzilla Vs. Mothra was very very good... and aside from his first appeareance (and in GMA), he was probably at his most evilness as well.

Yep, the "eyes" have it! These pictures come from Don Capone's model kit collection and I highly recommend visiting his Monster Gallery...lots of neat things in there! Linky: http://www.doncapone.org/modelkits/index.php

I also found this website showing not only pictures of the actual GMK Godzilla suit, but many other Godzilla suits as well as some of the suits of the other monsters. As the author of the website put it: "An exhaustive set of photos of Godzilla suits and suit details for anyone whose ever wondered about exactly what a certain Godzilla suit looked like." Here's an example: Attachment:

Quote: You have to look way, way up to see the mouth details of the GMK suit, which is a real monster even in person. Note how low the actor's head is . . . you can see by the tiny black holes in the neck which is where the suitmation performer sees from.

Interestingly enough, I was just about to say that this period of Godzilla suits is probably my favorite. Your reasoning is rock-solid Beastball. This was certainly the most friendly and cuddly version of Godzilla (if there can be such a thing) and they really dumbed down the series by making him not only a good guy, but one who dances, wrestles, flies and generally does anything possible to seem friendly and unthreatening to little kids. While all this is true, it's also the Godzilla that I was first introduced to by all those CDF movies. It's the first Godzila that I got to know. The original is a classic, and the more recent ones are kick-ass, but because of mostly nostalgic reasons, the goofy good-guy Godzilla will probably always be my favorite. Thanks for all these pics too! I hadn't seen the evolution pic before, and it makes the changes over the years very clear. The suit and model photos are very cool to see!

My favorite 3:
1. Godzilla vs The Thing (I have the X-Plus vinyl figure of it by my Godzilla movies) 2. GMK 3. King Kong vs. Godzilla
BTW that GMK model is awesome Beastball!

"BTW that GMK model is awesome Beastball!"
The things you find on the Internet. The day before yesterday, I didn't know it existed. Now I have to find a seller online and get one for myself!
