I have been unemployed since February, and have been looking for a new job. I have been going through the interview process for this new job that I really want since the beginning of June, and I just found out the other day that I have the job! I will be working for a non-profit foundation that raises money for cancer treatment. The people who work there seem really nice, and it is a great opportunity! I am so relieved, as it is a very scary job situation out there. I have enjoyed having the time off to spend with my son, but am glad that I will have a job to go to when I return to Massachusetts.

You said it, Mark. My mother was only 45 when she lost her battle with cancer.

Congratulations SSG!
I too am looking for a line of work (I'm not unemployed. just need something new) I recently applied to the Harris County Sheriff's Department.
They ask a lot of questions about your past. Not to see if you are worthy but to see if there is anything in your past they can charge you for. They consider the application an admission of guilt.
If you have a warrant you don't know about, they arrest you on the spot.

I'm so sorry about your mother, Beastball. Cancer affects so many people. I am very glad I got this job, it feels good to work for a business trying to make at least a small difference for people who need the help. Thank you all so much for your well wishes!

A little late, but please add my congratulations too south shore girl! It seems like we've only been hearing negative stories from board members who have been affected by the tanking economy. It's nice to finally hear some good news! Maybe a little of your good fortune will rub off on some others who could use some!
