Although it is not scheduled for release until November 17th I have been able to 'acquire' a 720p rip of it and I have to say this film is much better in HD.

I think it would have been nice if they made it where you can insert all the deleted scenes back into the movie, like you could with the first X-Men DVD. Instead, they're only providing the deleted scenes as a separate, special feature.

On a related note, here is a sneak peak at one of the deleted scenes with the Klingons:

I saw that scene. The Klingons were somewhat 'Predator'esque.

At least JJ Abrams stayed pretty true to the design of the Klingon ships

I was just curious, why is it that Europe and other regions of the world get it first? Shouldn't American movies be released here first?

You would think so, seeing how much stronger the domestic market is for Star Trek. Perhaps this is a way to boost the foreign take by making it available there first.

In an exclusive feature on the Blu-Ray release, see what the movie version of the Salt Vampire and Gorn look like. They were to be background prisoners at Rura Penthe deleted scenes.

I love the updated Salt Vampire; the new Gorn...not so much. It lacks both the reptile snout and multi-lens reflective eyes which to me are the two key looks for a Gorn.
This one looks too much like the Jem' Hadar .
