I watched THE STAR WARS HOLIDAY SPECIAL when it originally aired, and spent years trying to find anyone else who remembered it. I finally got a bootleg tape of it in college, and enjoy it for the 70's TV variety show that it is. As an official continuation of the STAR WARS saga, it's insane, but as a network TV variety special of the day, it's fun.

Carrie Fisher said she was hanging out out with John Belushi in those days and said she was coked out of her skull when she made the holiday special.

...Carrie Fisher has made claims that she never remembers working in any Star Wars-themed holiday special. This possibly backs up the commonly believed rumor that she was on drugs through the filming of the special. In the special she visibly trips over a piece of scenery, and her eyes are unusually dilated, considering she is in front of stage lighting. In other interviews Fisher has only said that she was "highly medicated".
