That sounds pretty amazing, astroal.

I may just have to place an order for Destroy All Monsters. I just watched it this week. It needs to be part of my collection—I had forgotten how incredible that flick is!

Thanks for the tips guys! It's always good to be able to have more sources for our kinds of flicks. There's so much stuff available now for streaming and whatnot, but some of the rarer stuff falls between the cracks and continues to be hard to find.

astroal, your stellar reviews will mean that I'm definitely placing an order with Popcorn Classics.

Also, I just got back from the Long Beach Comic Expo tonight; my only purchase of today was a crisp, quality copy of Matango (Attack of the Mushroom People)! I haven't watched this movie in decades! Matango is the flick that gave me the most nightmares after watching CDF… a horrible mix of confusion and hopelessness. But I still dig this film.

BTW I did ask if the dealer had any other CDF movies or even if they knew of dealers that had original broadcasts w/o/c. No such luck. But I'll keep on searching!

But for tonight… gonna sit back and enjoy some Matango.

kenny
matango has a heavy vibe and its anti-civilization message is dark especially when you're a kid.

i get what you're saying.

if you ever want to see a film with a similar vibe check out goke body snatcher from hell. that film is wild.

Matango was just as creepy and awesome as I remembered. You're right, astroal, the ending is dark and… heavy. Very disturbing but I enjoyed this trip down memory lane.

The biggest difference is the DVD presents the movie in CinemaScope 2.55:1 aspect ratio—I don't recall ever seeing the movie as widescreen.

back in the days of cdf it was all "pan and scan" not the best way to watch a movie.

Yeah, pan and scan, AND we had to watch it through a snowstorm of static that you got from pulling WLVI in on an old TV via antenna! Didn't matter much to our young minds, we were still plenty warped by all the great stuff CDF exposed us to!
