Oh wow, that's so cool! I've never checked out these flight simulator things, but it looks like I should. Been missing out on some cool stuff.

I've always had an interest in switches, buttons and blinking lights. Whenever I watch a sci-fi movie or show I always pay special attention to the cockpit sets to check out all the neat stuff! That's so awesome that there's so much detail and functionality in the Jupiter 2 simulator.

 Re: SCI-FI "AIRSHOW"
If you're like me and have a fascination for helicopters and aeroplanes, then I emphatically recommend games like Microsoft's Flight Simulator A Century of Flight and also Combat Flight Simulator 2 (WWII Pacific Theater). The attention to detail inside and outside the cockpit is amazing, and the realism in flight mechanics & operation is jaw-dropping (IMO). Also, you can adjust how real you want your flight sim to be--maybe you just want to fly, shoot (in CFS2) & land and not worry about fuel or whether your engine might over heat or whatever; you can make it that easy to fly.

The planes included in the games are great, but that is barely the tip of the iceberg when you see how many plane you have access to fly. There are literally thousands of planes--either vintage or modern including warplanes, commercial jets, helicopters--you name it, available FOR FREE at hundreds of websites dedicated to these flight sims.

This is my favorite place to go for my free planes:

You could spend days at Simviation looking at all the planes and scenery you can download into your game for free. They even have ground vehicles and ships you can plug in to your game. It really is quite amazing.

 Re: Super-Cool Update!
Check out this super-cool update:

The Liberty 2 from the original "Planet of the Apes" movie. The complete ship with the never-before-seen intact landing module. I believe we see a glimpse of this destroyed section in "Beneath the Planet of the Apes".

Wow, that's cool! It's strange seeing something so familiar sitting on top of something so un-familiar. I wonder how much this is what the actual lander looked (or was supposed to look) like and how much is the imagination of the animator/artist behind these images.

From looking at this still from "Beneath" and comparing to what they created for the Air Show, it looks like everything but the landing gear is speculation:

...Unless they had access to some original plans that were never built but were drawn.

 Re: SCI-FI "AIRSHOW"
It's been quite a while since anything new was posted here, close to a year now.

Take a look at this neat little video from the Sci-Fi Air Show folks:

I've been waiting patiently for the Jupiter 2 to make its appearance, now it looks like I won't have much longer to wait!
And check out the Robot Spy from Jonny Quest :o

Here is a sneak peek at the upcoming Jupiter 2. It's not up on their site yet, but it shouldn't be long now.

I watched the video, they're not even there. They're all standing in front of a green screen

 Re: SCI-FI "AIRSHOW"
You're right, there is no "there". I'm guessing they took footage from some real military air show and with the computer, cleverly inserted all this sci-fi hardware. It's too bad they couldn't modify the spokesman's voice to sound less echo-y. It sounds too much like he's inside a warehouse and not out on an airfield.

Here is some interesting information for the Jupiter 2 "exhibition"

I had no idea a model was built and used for the display. I was convinced it was all CGI!

Click this link to see the model being built:

The Jupiter 2 model pics are incredible. It would be amazing if he could get it to fly!
