 Re: Skull Island
So this will be a prequel to KING KONG? That could be intertesting.
The article also hinted at a possible KING KONG VS. GODZILLA remake in the future, but you have to take into account the size of the two creatures is totally disproportionate. Kong is supposed to be 20-40ft high and Godzilla is now about 450ft tall. They got away with it in the original without too much trouble, but I can't see a modern movie doing it without growing Kong and explaining why he's so much bigger.

 Re: Skull Island
They would have to reduce Godzilla's size quite a bit which is exactly what they did in the original vs. movie.
I hope it doesn't happen in Gareth Edwards Godzilla universe but I'd love a Toho sequel.

They tried to do a sequel for Godzilla's 40th Anniversary but Universal wanted too much money for the licence. Toho was going to try MechaKong but figured it was like walking on eggshells because Universal released King Kong Escapes, even though it was produced by Toho, it was based on the old Rankin-Bass cartoon. Looks like a KK vs Godzilla sequel or remake will never happen.

When Kodakawa Studios bought out Daiei back in the 90's,they approached Toho about it. Toho scoffed at the idea.

 Re: Skull Island
Has Toho ever given their reason for refusing a Godzilla/Gamera film? Do they really think Gamera is that poor a franchise to be compared to theirs? From the sounds of Kaiju fans, this is probably the most anticipated showdown ever and a surefire money-maker.

They should team the two up against the bad monsters from both studios!

Yeah, but which ones? Ghidorah is probably the favorite Godzilla foe, though he's been featured a lot. I suppose if they fought each other's foes it would be a new twist.

I just don't think any of Gamera's foes would put up much of a fight against Godzilla. Who's Gamera's toughest foe?

iyras (not sure i'm spelling it right) was a tough tough foe. iyras could put up a good fight against godzilla

either that or a bunch of gyoas.

This Iyras, is he from the modern movies? I haven't seen any of them yet. I was referring to the classic movies from CDF--they mostly seemed pretty lame to me (or is it that Gamera seemed lame to me?).
