 ST:TNG - A celebration of Season 2
Has anyone heard about Fathom Events' upcoming program "Star Trek: The Next Generation - A Celebration of Season 2"? I should have written about a while back, but didn't think about it until just now. The show is going to be on at participating theaters on this coming Thursday, November 29th at 7:00. I only heard about this about a month ago. Apparently they did a "Celebration of Season 1" last year--and I never heard of that one at all. Fathom Events is the same company that broadcasts (simulcasts?) live shows and concerts at movie theaters all over the country, like the occasional Riff Trax Live shows.

This show will feature two episodes from the second season ("Q Who?" and "The Measure of a Man". They have been re-masteres for teh big screen and "The Measure of a Man" is an "extended version", which apparently includes previously unseen footage. There will also be a reunion of the cast and some other stuff. It sounds pretty cool and I'm planning on going. I'll report back after the show if anyone's interested in hearing how it goes.

Here's the page at Fathom Events for the show (check here for participating theaters):

Oh, and I believe that tickets for the show are $12.50, which isn't much more than the price of a regular movie these days.

I'm curious what the extra footage in "Measure of a Man" entails--prehaps more arguments back and forth during Data's hearing. It's been a very long time since I have seen that episode last.

Ah, "Q Who?"...the introduction to the Borg. A GREAT episode!

Looking forward to your "report", Col.!

I'm very sorry to say that I wasn't able to attend the show tonight. It was a major disappointment. I was planning to go and thought all systems were go. Then I decided to check out the directions to the theater one last time earlier this afternoon. When I saw the movie time it still said 7:00, but it had a line gong through the time. And there was no "TICKETS" button to click to purchase tickets. I called the theater and confirmed my fear that the show was sold out! Great news for the event, but bad news for me. I had seen the ticket button a few times but figured it didn't make any sense to buy my ticket beforehand when I could just walk up to the line and buy one there. Never counted on it selling out. Ugh.

sorry you didn't get to go col.

i am surprised it sold out.

that's nice in a way though. i'm not a big next gen fan but i love that people are still going to the theaters for special events and things.

i hate the idea that one day theaters might die out.

Yeah, I agree that it's a good thing that it did sell out. I wasn't expecting it at all. The theater I always used to go to before we moved was in Millbury. Special events like this and the Riff Trax shows never seemed to sell out (or be more than half-full for that matter). I guess I should have figured that a theater in Boston would be siphoning Trek fans from a much larger population base. Oh well, now I know.

There's a review/recap of the theater event over at trekmovie.com

There's also a one minute sneak peek at the second season gag reel.
