The one showtime I was unable to find a listing on was for the 2:30 PM show on July 30, 1983. I'm hoping someone here has info on that show, or any additional or alternate info.

Greetings! I'm a new member to the site, but it's been great to browse and relive my childhood. I noticed the comment about the missing movie, and was curious if I might have some info on it. I have a very vivid memory of a CDF "color-themed" day, where the morning film was "The Angry Red Planet" and the afternoon film was "The Green Slime". Angry Red Planet is on your list, but I couldn't find Green Slime, unless I missed it or if it goes by some other name.

Obviously I have no documentation for this - just my own fuzzy memories. But I thought it was worth mentioning!

Best,

Hubble

green slime is a fun fun movie. i have seen it a bunch of times. its a hoot.

its an italian/japanese mash up of space opera and silly monsters.

 Re: The CDF List
Hi all. New to the site. I grew up watching all the CDF movies on Saturday afternoons....I'm 46 yrs old. Over Thanksgiving CDF came up in a conversation and it reminded me of two movies I always wanted to seek out online.
The first is the one that has the Japanese stone statue that Diaminjinbob us using for his avatar pic. What was the name of that movie, and is it available to watch on YouTube, Hulu, or somewhere?
The second was about a creature that comes out of the water and eats people. It would eat people whole and then spit out their clothes. One great scene I remember from that movie was a fishing boat out in the water, and a guy looks overboard because the line is snagged, and he sees the creature's huge eyeball looking up at him.....creapy! Anyone know the name of that one and if its available anywhere?

the one with the creature that came out of the water and ate people was War of the Gargantuas. a great fun flick.

the one bob uses as an avatar is actually from 3 movies.

Majin, Monster of Terror (originally Daimajin) and Return of Giant Majin (originally Daimajin Ikaru). there's also a third one that never aired on cdf.

not sure if they're online or not but a good search with google might turn them up somewhere.

welcome to the board!

Welcome baddbonz. We' love to hear some of your CDF memories (if you have any you'd like to share). The board started as a way for fans of the show to discuss it, but now that many of us have been here a while we end up talking about a lot of other things that someone who grew up on CDF might be interested in. Look around the board if you get the chance. I know there's a thread specifically about "War of the Gargantuas" and wouldn't be surprised if there was one or two on Majin.

astroal already gave you the titles of the movies you remembered (definite CDF classics!). If you have any problem finding them online, they're both available on DVD. There were a couple different releases of the Majin movies. I believe one only had the two movies that were aired in America (on CDF around here), and the other one has all three movies. Not sure if they're still in print or how tough they are to find at this point.

Classic Media (the folks who released a bunch of great Godzilla special edition DVDs a few years back) put out a double feature of "Rodan" and "War of the Gargantuas" a couple years ago. It was something we were all excited about here at the board because before that the movie had been pretty hard to find. It should still be readily available in stores and online.

I just checked and Deep Discount has the "Rodan"/"War of the Gargantuas" set available for $15.26. If you look around (Amazon, eBay, other online retailers...) you can probably find it even cheaper than that.

Rodan/War of the Gargantuas:

A quick check of eBay indicates that it might be a bit tougher to find the Majin movies.

The Rodan/Gargantua DVD is a definite must-have. You get both the American and Japanese versions of Gargantua in glorious letterbox. I usually prefer the original Japanese over the American dubbed, but the American print of Gargantua is actually superior. It's brighter and the colors are sharper and I like the music soundtrack better.

Just wish Rodan was letterboxed.

I forgot to mention that the scene with the fishermen was one of those moments that always stuck with me. I was so excited to finally be able to see it again when I got the DVD. Was surprised that they didn't show an overhead shot of the guy looking down at the submerged gargantua looking back up at him. It was done in two separate shots, but was obviously pretty effective--since I remembered it the way it was obviously meant to be remembered. Nowadays it would have been easy to do that shot using CGI, but I still think it's an effective scene--even after all these years!

 Re: The CDF List
Thank you for welcoming me, and for the info on the two movies I mentioned. After my post, I did discover that Majin was one of them. I found the trilogy set online at Amazon and am thinking of ordering it. Now that I know the other was War of the Gargantua I will seek that out as well.

Many of my CDF memories revolve around me being at my cousin's house in Rhode Island. At the time of CDF, I still had some asthma (grew out of it at age 12), so I would see a doctor in RI every other Saturday for shots. We'd then stop by my cousins to visit. My aunt and uncle would cook us steak & eggs, or make sandwiches, and my cousin and I would settle down for some CDF. Sometimes my dad & I would leave before the movies were over, so unfortunately some of my movie memories are splintered. Other times I'd be home and come in from playing to have lunch and just settle down for some great CDF, then go back out after it was over. Always on WLVI TV56. Had to get the antenna just right for a clear picture!

For Gargantua, another clear memory is wondering how the creature could spit out whole clothes, with no tears, teeth marks, etc on them...and if he could eat bones and everything why he couldn't eat the clothes..LOL. Only in the movies!

Wish there was a YouTube or Hulu type site that the full movies could be available for viewing.

Welcome BadBonz, you might want to try Crackle.com. They have several Godzilla movies on there

Five Million Years to Earth or Quatermass & the Pit was shown at least 3 times on CDF

Didn't see it (and a few others) on this list.

Aah, good catch! THere are so many movies it's easy to miss some and not even realize that they're missing. I don't know where this particular list came from (whether it's the same one from the old board or not), but it's possible that the person/people that put it together were only listing the titles there were in the true "Creature Double Feature" and not listing anything from the various periods when it was a single movie "Creature Feature" show. I have all the movies from September 1975 right up through June 1985. Unfortunately I had to move the list from Excel to Google Docs and now I can't figure out how to search within it by title. I do know that "Five Million Years to Earth" was aired on the single "Creature Double Feature" at least once.

Oh, and by the way, welcome to the board Sav7!

Hey Sav7, you mentioned one specific movie not being on the list, but said "and a few others". I'm curious what others you are thinking of, as they bring back a memory with me as well.

I forgot about the single Creature Feature show.

By the way, I ordered the Majin trilogy over the holidays and was able to watch all three. I remembered the first movie, but don't recall seeing the second and third. Looks like they used the same set during all three movies, ie: where they are doing a single hanging in one movie, multiple crosses in another, mining in a third, etc....

War of Gargantuas is next on my list.

Will also check out crackle.com and see what is on there. Thanks for the suggestion.

Lastly, not CDF related, but anyone else looking forward to the 'John Carter' movie?
