Aah, thanks for that Mark. I was wondering if this would ever see the light of day. It would have been a shame if they waited until James Best or someone else from the cast passed away before releasing it. It actually sounds pretty good--or at least exactly what one could hope for with a low-budget film like this. Sounds like fun and I'll definitely check it out when I get the chance. Probably won't buy it, unless I can't get it from Netflix or some other outlet, but I'm looking forward to it.

If you order the DVD from the official site, it comes with a poster signed by James Best.

Re: The Return of the Killer Shrews
So I finally bought a copy of this, as the deal with the autographed poster was too good to pass up.

The disc arrived not only with the poster (printed on glossy card stock) signed, but also the DVD itself bore the signature
of Mr. James Best.

The film itself is fun overall, but is as much a comedy as it is a horror film. Problem is, the comedy is pretty forced and overdone.
If you can tune those moments out and focus on the shrew angle, it's kind fun to see Best back in that role. He has a moment or
two of serious dramatic acting that are impressive, and at times this is just a fun throwback monster movie. The shrews are almost
entirely CGI, as is the gore a blood spatter, for the most part, which is distracting as always. I'd say this is definitely more a rental
than a purchase item, unless you (like me) want the James Best autographs.

I don't know Mark. I'm wondering if maybe we were separated at birth or something. While I've been waiting to see this film for a LONG time, I really had NO interest in buying it. But then you had to mention the James Best autograph angle. Well, a few moments and computer clicks later I've just ordered my own copy! I have to say that I really like James Best (mainly because of nostalgic memories of "The Dukes of Hazzard" and The Twilight Zone"). He's probably not going to be around much longer, so I feel this was a great opportunity to get a little special memento from him! Heck, it's cheaper than it would cost to just get an autograph at a convention these days--and you get TWO autos and a DVD to boot! That works for me (just don't tell my wife)!

Re: The Return of the Killer Shrews
So, part of my reason for wanting to order the signed DVD and poster for the Killer Shrews was the fact that I had a feeling that James Best wouldn't be around much longer. Little did I know that he was going to be around for only a few days after I placed my order. I still haven't received my DVD and poster, but now it will have a little extra meaning when it finally arrives. Hopefully his passing won't have any effect on my order. I'd imagine that they had a stockpile of them waiting to be sold (at least I hope so...).

Re: The Return of the Killer Shrews
That was one of my first thoughts, too, that I'm glad I ordered that DVD when I did.

Best always seemed like a nice guy, and seemed to be pretty active right up to the end.

Glad you placed the order, Col. I also assume they had a bunch of these signed and ready to ship.

I'll always remember James Best fondly as Roscoe P. Coltrane. I loved his "Kud Yud Yud" laugh on the show and would watch the closing credits to the end just to hear it one more time.

RIP Mr. Best

Re: The Return of the Killer Shrews
I LOVED The Dukes (and Roscoe of course)! Tuning in to The Incredible Hulk and The Dukes of Hazzard on Friday nights was one of the highlights of my week. And yes, I also would watch through the credits for Roscoe's laugh at the end! Of course there were a couple seasons when Boss Hogg would say "Them Dukes, them Dukes" at the end instead.

By the way, my Killer Shrews DVD and poster still have not shown up yet. I'm getting a bit concerned...

And here's a pic from when I put on an episode of The Dukes for the girls (and myself too of course) a couple days after James Best died.

Col., if this forum had a "like" or "thumbs up" function, you certainly would have got one from me for your last post!

Re: The Return of the Killer Shrews
Forgot to mention that the RETURN OF THE KILLER SHREWS disc does feature a nice-looking widescreen copy
of the original SHEWS film as an extra, so even though I'm so-so on the sequel, I now have a good copy of the orignal
on DVD.
