The Return of the Killer Shrews
I supposed it had to happen eventually. The photo reminds me of Gilligan's Island gone wrong.

Re: The Return of the Killer Shrews
This has been in the works for a while now. Interesting to see that it's a mini DUKES OF HAZZARD REUNION. I'm curiously (and cautiously) optimistic about it, though I fear from the shot of the female camera operator character that we'll be treated to some POV shaky-cam crap, as footage she shoots of the shrews is played back for some non-believer to see. Still, I know the director is a big fan of old-timey monster movies, so hopefully this will be an homage to that era of restraint and tastefully-shot dogs wearing full-body wigs.

Re: The Return of the Killer Shrews
Thanks for the link CDF Fan.
It seems like someone had posted something about this around here earlier. I remember hearing about it, but am not sure where it was. Anyway, this does indeed look interesting. I certainly wouldn't expect anything "great" out of this, but if done right it could be fun. It seems like we see people who were fans of something making a "tribute" type thing like this only to be disappointed (I'm thinking of the recent Guilala movie).

The picture definitely reminds one of Gilligan's island--so much so that I'm wondering if it's on purpose. I'm very much hoping this will be a good homage in the spirit of the "Lost Skeleton" movies and not a waste of time. It's VERY cool that James Best is in it, and I also like the little Dukes reunion they have going on. Wonder if there'll be a tip of the hat to that show and/or Gilligan's Island (beyond the photo).

The latest trailer for the movie is up. http://youtu.be/RMJUAIeprls

The Killer Shrews look like bad cartoon drawings. Is this a straight to DVD release?

too bad they used cgi. the dogs with the silly makeup were so much more fun.

Re: The Return of the Killer Shrews
Well, considering what's coming out these days as far as low-budget, straight-to-video stuff (and the Sci-Fi kind of stuff) this actually looks kind of fun. Other than the stupid looking CGI stuff I'm looking forward to this. I suppose it would be too much to hope for real dogs dressed up as shrews. Not only is CGI the flavor of the day and infinitely easier than it would be to try to direct a bunch of dogs, I can imagine that it's a lot tougher to use real animals in a movie like this than it would have been when the original movie came out. They would have to have so many wranglers and people on set to ensure the safety of the dogs (ASPCA, PETA...) that the entire budget would probably have to literally to the dogs  . It would be a real nice touch if they could have put in even one or two dogs for some close up scenes--even if it was only very limited. Oh well, what are you gonna do?

That CGI looks terribly unconvincing.

However, if the movie is amusingly bad and not boringly bad, it might be worth a look-see.

Re: The Return of the Killer Shrews
I was reading an article about the 35th anniversary of the Dukes of Hazard and besides feeling depressed and old about that, I remembered that Jon Schneider was in this movie. Has anyone dared to watch it? I'm thinking of buying the DVD and would be happy to pass it along after I view it.

A friend also sent me this link for a DVD swapping club that looks interesting. I have so many many that I do not watch anymore that I may give this a try. http://www.swapadvd.com/index.php

Apparently this has finally been released, paired with an anamorphic version of the original:
