WOW! A friend on Facebook told me about all the upcoming awesomess on TCM a while back (not realizing that I do not have cable). It's so great to see so many great old movies that we all love getting some airtime.

TCM still treats movies with respect showing letterboxed versions and NO commercial interruption...and they haven't forgotten what the "C" stands for in their name......unlike what happened to AMC.

I don't have cable either, but I know what the score is.

....Awesome lineup there!

amc is a joke. yes i do like madmen but it's not what the station should be about and honestly madmen would be better if hbo was making it.

tcm is still great

Good to know that they have kept to their original vision of the channel (doesn't seem like many of them do).

The problem I have with AMC is the time between series. You need to watch everything again just to be sure where you left off. Breaking Bad is due to start again in July after long hiatus and I've been reading that The Walking Dead has been hit with huge budget reductions. I've never been a fan of Mad Men.

TCM went all out for last night's event. They came up with some neat ads for the event and the intros were great.

I caught a little of that glorious night of programming, and was kind of pleasantly surprised to see that they were running the old CDF/US/fullscreen/dubbed versions of the films. Very retro and fun.

I recorded King Kong earlier today and in lieu of throwing my TV out the window, due to the Bruin's OT loss, I'll watch that now.

LOL, I didn't throw my TV out the window either, but I sure yelled at it! I'm so pissed because they could easily be up 2-0 with the way they played Vancouver so far. I'm not worried yet, since the B's have been in this position before facing Montreal, and managed to win that series.

Re: Turner Classic Movies - CDF 3X
You know what? This TCM marathon just goes to show how special CDF (and all the other great local programming) was back in the day. I'd venture that most of us have many (if not all) of the movies TCM showed on DVD. Even if we don't, it's certainly easy enough to watch them if we feel like it one way or another. Yet, put six of them on TV and it becomes must-see programming. Despite the easy availability of all these movies, there's still something special about having them on TV where you have to be there and can't control them (Tivo and DVRs not withstanding...).

What an awesome lineup of flicks! "Tarantula" was always a CDF favorite of mine. Wish I had me some TCM!

I've never seen THE COSMIC MONSTERS, so I'm looking forward to watching my recording of that one.
