Not a lot of variety, but if any of you get Rutland Community Television (that's Rutland MA) then they do show genre stuff.
Every day this week at 10am they are running Monster from a Prehistoric Planet. Also at 2pm Captain America chapters 1-3.
They've run a Starman film, and last Sunday a double feature of Black Dragons/The Invisible Ghost.
A promising start.

The local access channel here in Houston actually showed a porn once (disguised as a 'safe sex' video)

That's great that your local access is showing worthwhile stuff. I contacted mine about Shilling Shockers and got no response although I know that at one time they were going to show her show but then pulled the plug.

That's really cool (obviously)! Someone at the channel must have been a CDF fan growing up. This is something I wish more people would do. As much as I love the effort that goes into creating, making, promoting and actually pulling off a successful horror host show, CDF fans grew up with just the opening theme (and voiceover) and then two movies back to back. Other than the recent Ernie Boch Jr. entries and the short period where WLVI aired The Son of Svengoolie, CDF never actually had a host (beyond the voiceover of course). It would be so easy for a public access channel to simply run two PD movies back-to-back on a Saturday afternoon and call it Creature Double Feature. It would save a lot of time and effort--and would still appeal to fans of the old show! Looks like someone finally realized that (and they even start the first movie at the traditional 1:00 too!).
Nonetheless, I'd still like to see them add shows like "Saturday Fright Special" and "Shilling Shockers" to their schedule too. Judging by some of the stuff they're already showing it seems like they might be open to the idea!
You should try to contact the channel and see if the person (people) responsible for this Creature Double Feature format are/were fans of the show back in the day brainfollower. If so, direct them here!

Called suggested both, left a message. Last night's movie was Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. This channel is great.

Having gotten their phone number I called the station manager. He called me back this morning and we had a long talk about our mutual love for these films, his station's rebirth, various other things. First thing I mentioned to him was acquiring either/or Shilling Shockers or Saturday Fright Special. In both cases he said he'd look into it but he had another idea. They have a studio, a good amount of grant money and he'd love to do a locally produced horror show. Would I be interested in hosting my own show he asked?
Man was I floored by that one but already the wheels are turning. We're supposed to be meeting later today.

Wow! What a development! Make sure you keep us posted on this situation brainfollower. If you don't decide that hosting your own show is for you (though it certainly sounds like a great opportunity), you could once again put in a good word for Shilling Shockers and Saturday Fright Special. Heck, with this guy being such a big fan of these movies, maybe they'd put BOTH shows on! And I imagine it would be cheaper to do so than to put their own show on.
On the other hand... If they're serious about putting on their own show (and you're not interested in putting on your own production) I'd think that doing a true revival of Creature Double Feature would be a good suggestion. Though it's only one one local access channel, this might be our best chance to see the show return! I don't know if there'd be any issues with using the name (or the ELP theme, image...) but if not, what the heck! It would be a great tribute to the old show--and be very cost effective at the same time (they don't need to shoot host segments, simply use a voice-over played over an opening). I can't speak for anyone obviously, but skorch here at the board HAS already made an awesome recreation of the classic CDF opening... Just a thought.

They want to do both. They're in the process of securing Shilling Shockers. Evidently the ONLY requirement is that a resident "sponsor" the show. I always thought that meant buying a time slot ala UHF days but I guess it just means I have to fill out a form saying I want to watch the show.
A voice over idea might be the way to go. My own instincts are towards a Bob Wilkins/John Stanley type host as opposed to a vampire or supernatural character.
