I fianlly picked this movie up for $.19 off Amazon. This movie scared the crap out of me as a kid back in the 70's and even moreso when Joe Bob showed it on MonsterVision in the 90's. Now I just feel empathy for Trog and realize he was mistreated and just needed to be set back in his cave. Funny how time and age changes your perception of movies, just like how I'm happy that Carrie gets revenge on P.J. Soles.

Trog was Joan Crawford's final film appearance, and I loved every moment. Both she and Bette Davis made some very interesting films at the ends of their careers. The Night Gallery pilot (a masterpiece!) with Joan and Madame Sin, The Anniversary & Burnt Offerings for Bette, just to name a few.

Trog is so cheap, so wonderfully low budget...I love it so very much!

NINETEEN CENTS?!? Is that correct?

I've written about "Trog" either at the old board or in a thread here that may have disappeared. It was around the time when it was released as part of a series of triple-feature DVDs ("Women in Danger"--or something like that--was the title of the collection that included "Trog"). I still need to pick it up at some point.

I remember "Trog" well from the CDF days. That was one that scared the crap out of me. I suppose I was an easy target because of my interest in/fear of bigfoot. While Trog was a caveman rather than a bigfoot-type creature, the simple humanoid-ness of him was enough to scare me. I saw it again within the past couple of years (courtesy of Netflix) as I've been trying to watch as many favorite CDf movies as possible again (depending on what's available of course). I thought it actually stood up pretty well. The scene where Trog jumps out from behind the car when the guy closes the trunk is still a jump-worthy moment! Very true about Ms. Crawford's role. As a kid I didn't really know much about her, but her name-power added a lot to the credibility of the movie for a little kid like me. All in all, still a fun movie.

I remember CDF used to air "Gog" and "Yog" as a double feature, and may have paired one of those titles with "Trog" once or twice too, but I swear that I remember a triple feature of all three of them back-to-back-to-back being on at least once. This would be a CDF of "Gog" and "Yog", followed by "Trog" as the 4 O'Clock Movie (or something to that effect).

Don't think I ever saw Trog...I was not too interested in monsters that were not "monster size" back then.
Now may be the time I finally take a look see.

Yes is was 19 cents but it was a VHS tape that I converted to DVD. The part when he closes the car trunk instead of just gettng in the car immediately was scary. The gruesome part was the butcher shop scene. I never got over seeing that as a 9 year old. Now that is standard in all horror movies and much worse.

Yeah, the butcher shop scene near the end was pretty gruesome, and made it clear that Trog was not going to become a happy member of modern society. The whole film was very effective for scaring a young version of me back in the early 80s. I remember the suspense of the opening cave scenes, when you just know something scary is going to happen, but you don't know when! I'd definitely recommend this flick Beastball.

Another thing the film has going for it is the presence of Michael Gough (Alfred from the 80s/90s Batman movies).
