Don't Ask - Don't Tell. But if for some insane reason anyone here at CDF doesn't all ready own it ...

OLDIES.COM has a special: King Kong (1933) Restored DVD --- $2.98.

Thanks Uncle POE. I saw this sale too and was thinking of alerting everyone. Beat me to the punch! I don't own it and really should buy it while it's at such an insanely low price. Perhaps I can package it with a few otehr "must haves". We'll see. I believe this is only a one week sale though (according to the e-mail I got), so the price will probably not remain this low for long. Get it while you can!

Ahhh...classic! Thanks for the info!

Speaking of giant gorillas, has anyone ever seen A.P.E.? It is a 1970's classic low-budget film with a young Mrs. Seaver from Growing Pains.

I'd jump at this if I didn't already have it on both VHS and DVD. If it were the colorized version, I'd get it for that price.

I rented A.P.E. on tape ages ago and thought it was fun. Good exploitation cheese for a weekend afternoon.

I watched "A*P*E*" for the first time after it was mentioned here a couple of years ago (rented from Netflix). Silly, cheesy fun from what I remember. Along the same lines (rip-offs of the 1976 "King Kong" remake), I really enjoyed "The Mighty Peking Man", which is also available at Netflix. It's a lot of fun.

THE MIGHTY PEKING MAN actually got a micro theatrical re-release in the late 90s via Quentin Tarantino's Rolling Thunder vanity arm of Miramax, back when the Brothers Weinstein were doing anything they could to keep QT happy. I seem to recall this playing at the Brattle back then. Sure would have been fun to be able to see this one on the big screen!
