Hello, and thanks for a cool site!
Does anyone recall a movie that featured a huge, angry, Chinese-looking statue that comes to life, and at one point impales some guy with a stake? Sorry to be so vague, but all I remember is that bit, and that the statue scared the crap out of me...

Hi rottenchops and welcome to the board!
The movie you are seeking has to be the Daimajin trilogy. Just look at the fellow on the top of the webpage, to the left of Godzilla... That's Majin, the stone god of the movie trilogy. You can even see the stake in his forehead he uses to impale the Japanese warlord with!
All three movies are available on DVD:
Daimajin
Return of Majin
Wrath of Majin

Welcome aboard rotten chops, nice to have you along for the ride. I had bought this trilogy set a few years back and love It. But as much as I love viewing the Japanese version and reading English subtitles, I really wish I could get a copy of the set In the original English dubbed version that I saw on CDF way back when! Does anybody out there know wear I can get a copy of one? And does anyone know if the original English dubbed version was a Sandy frank production or not? Just curios. I know the Sandy Frank co. did allot for bringing gamera out to us in the 80s and wondered if there was any other projects they have done that I missed?

Sandy Frank had nothing to do with bringing Majin to the states. THANK GOD.
He did however bring us Time of the Apes

Amazon has the first two in a set dubbed:
These were the only ones dubbed for American TV and shown on CDF.
Grab it before it goes out of print and it starts selling for big bucks on Ebay.

I've got the opposite problem that you have Gojira junky. I have the Giant Majin Collection double feature, but don't have the trilogy. For anyone with enough interest in this stuff (like most of us here at the board) I would imagine that it would be good to own BOTH collections. Obviously the trilogy is the only way to have the complete collection, but the double feature is great too because it lets you see the first two Majin movies as we saw them as kids on CDF!

Actually if you can find the subtitled trilogy cheap enough you should get that one as well.
You can't go wrong either way.

Hey Skorch!
Any chance of getting the dubbed versions onto your "compilations" in the future?

I remember this from so long ago...but also forgot the name! I just put the trilogy at the top of my Netflix queue.
